The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship - Posted August 21, 2024

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 36th class in 2024, the Foundation has provided over 6,900 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $84 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship.

The Terry Traditional Scholarship, or Freshman Scholarship, is a full ride, last dollar scholarship that covers up to eight semesters. It is awarded to Texas high school seniors who have been accepted for admission to one of the Terry-affiliated public universities in Texas.

The Hagan Scholarship Foundation - Posted November 6, 2024

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, providing recipients “regardless of nationality” with the opportunity to achieve their goals and graduate college debt-free. The scholarship provides up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters. Applicants must graduate from a high school located in the United States.

Texas Leadership Scholars Program - Posted November 8, 2024

The Texas Leadership Scholars (TLS) program will prepare students for life after graduation, whether their next step is a professional career or graduate school. Because only 250 students are selected to become Texas Leadership Scholars each year, encourage your TEXAS Grant-eligible, high achieving students to apply for the Texas Leadership Scholars program.

Scholars are eligible to receive funding through this renewable scholarship for up to 4 years/8 long semesters, if they continue to meet program criteria and requirements.

  • The institution will ensure 100%* of board-designated tuition and fees are covered through a combination of federal, state, and institutional aid.

  • For *tuition and fees, total aid amount is capped by need as determined in the FAFSA or TASFA.

  • The Coordinating Board will provide a Housing & Food scholarship* equal to the average cost at the participating institution.

  • Housing & Food scholarship* is provided regardless if living on or off campus, this amount is capped at cost of attendance.

  • The Coordinating Board will fund summer programming opportunities.

  • Only undergraduate courses are covered, and they must be taken in the fall or spring.

2024-2025 San Bernard Watershed Scholarship Program - Posted November 21, 2024

Program Guidelines:

1. Applicants must reside or have a primary residence in, or attend a high school with an attendance zone in the San Bernard Watershed. The 14 eligible high school zones include Bellville HS, Boling HS, Brazos HS, Brazosport HS, Columbia HS, Columbus HS, East Bernard HS, El Campo HS, Lamar Consolidated HS, Needville HS. Rice HS, Sealy HS, Sweeny HS, and Wharton HS.

2. Applicants must demonstrate a reasonable connection between the career they intend to pursue and the betterment of the environment. Possible career paths might include, but are not limited to, environmental sciences, environmental law, agriculture, certain engineering disciplines, science education, scientific research, etc.

3. Applicants may only apply during their senior year and must graduate from high school at the conclusion of the school year during which the application is submitted.

4. Completed applications must be received by the committee between February 1st and April 1.

5. Each completed application will be evaluated based on the documents provided to the San Bernard Watershed Scholarship Committee. Only those applications meeting all program requirements will be considered.

6. The scholarship winners will be announced in early May each calendar year.

7. All decisions made by the San Bernard Watershed Scholarship Committee are final.

8. Winners shall be present at their school’s awards ceremony.

9. Winner’s picture and brief biography will be published on the FOR website and submitted to local newspapers.

10. It is the responsibility of each applicant to keep the Scholarship Committee apprised of any change of address and/or contact information. Failure to provide adequate information will disqualify an application.

Wharton County Farm Bureau Scholarship - Posted January 9, 2025

Eligibility:

  1. Membership - Daughter/Sister or Son/Brother of a Texas Farm Bureau member. The membership and applicant's residence must be within Wharton County.

  2. Field of Study - The candidate must enroll in a college, university, or technical school in a curriculum leading to a degree of certification and/or license in an approved field of study.

  3. Application - The candidate must submit the application form + an official high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores, a certified statement of ranking in the graduating class (may be a part of the official transcript), and essay (topic is listed below) and two recommendation letter: 1 teacher and 1 business/employer.

Each applicant is required to answer the following question, in 300 words or less. In what ways do you plan to continue promoting the agriculture industry throughout college and after graduation?

Wharton County Youth Fair & Exposition Scholarship - Posted January 15, 2025

WHARTON COUNTY YOUTH FAIR WILL NOT ACCEPT APPLICATIONS DIRECTLY FROM STUDENTS AND ENTRY DEADLINES WILL BE STRICTLY FOLLOWED. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. APPLICATIONS WIL BE PICKED UP FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR’S OFFICE BY A WCYF REPRESENTATIVE.

CONDITIONS:

1. Candidates must live in or attend a Wharton County high school.

2. Candidates must be seniors.

3. Home School students will be considered as High School Seniors as long as state requirements are met.

4. Field of study is not limited; however, the candidate must have plans of attending an accredited college, technical school or vocational school with a program leading to certification in an approved field of study.

5. Application must be properly submitted on official forms provided by the school counselor or obtained from the WCYF website. All applications must be turned into the school’s counselor office by the deadline date of WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, 2025. THERE SHOULD BE NO EXTRA PAGES ATTACHED TO THIS APPLICATION. Statements must fit in the space provided on the application. Any attachments to the application will be removed and will not be considered as part of the application. All blanks must be completed.

6. Applications must include official transcripts and copies of SAT and ACT scores. If those are not available a PSAT score should be included. Class ranking is important information, and must be certified by school officials. The application covers general information about school, family, college plans, community service, and other Wharton County experiences. Houston Denny’s Community Builders Scholarship- Posted January 16, 2025

Scholarship Details

Application Period: January 6 – March 17, 2025

Eligibility: All applicants must be enrolled in an accredited educational institution (high school/college) in the United States or Puerto Rico.

Residency: All applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the Greater Houston Area, TX, but can attend any college/university across the United States. To be confirmed as a winner, applicants under the age of 18 must have a parent/legal guardian sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Assignment of Rights.

Use of Scholarship Funds: Scholarship funds awarded to winners must be used for education, such as tuition and related fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses at an accredited educational institution.

GPA requirement: The GPA-level requirement is 2.5 or higher. High-school students are required to provide a 300-word essay on how Denny’s can help bring communities together. A 500-word essay is required for college students.

Winners will be notified via email and announced at a Houston Astros game. They will be invited to a pre-game reception, where they will be presented with a scholarship certificate.
