STATE CX Debate results
The EBHS CX Debate team of Kadence Hernandez and Emma Zapalac competed in the 3A State Championships held at UT Austin over spring break. Their 3-1 record on Day One qualified them for Day Two, "octofinals", which is the top 16 teams in the state. This is exceptional, because this is out of over 45 qualifying teams throughout the state. It was only done once before for an EBHS team, back in 2018. But Kadence and Emma surpassed octofinals and broke to quarter finals- top 8! Unfortunately they did not break to semis, but their overall record and speaker points earned them the 6th place medal at State! This breaks an EBHS school record, where the 2018 team of Keaton McDonald and Abby Sellers placed 9th at State. We are so proud of all the hard work these students have put in since last spring, and we can see that their preparation really paid off!
